2021 Find out about The Great British Racing Drivers Exhibition by Indira Flack privileged to have been the very first visiting exhibition at The Silverstone Interactive Museum
THE ONE AND ONLY NIGEL MANSELL CBE & ME
GREAT BRITISH RACING DRIVERS WAS PRIVILEGED TO BE THE VERY FIRST VISITING EXHIBITION FEATURED AT THE SILVERSTONE INTERACTIVE MUSEUM, THE VERY CENTRE OF BRITISH AND GLOBAL MOTORSPORT.
GBRD is a unique collection of new portraits, celebrating more than 100 of Britain’s iconic and inspirational drivers, past, present and future. They are not all champions, but all inspiring in many different ways. including drivers from karting to Formula One, in settings and locations that link to their motorsport story or illustrate their personalities away from the track.Take a look at a small selection.
My aim is that GBRD becomes an archive for motorsport fans and the general public to enjoy and maybe inspire a future driver or two.
Photographing these legends of motorsport has been an absolute privilege and pleasure. Beginning with Sir Stirling Moss in 2014, travelling 1000s of miles around the UK, the project includes men, women, kids, World Champions, European Champions, British Champions. Knights of the Realm, CBEs, OBEs, MBEs, dogs, horses and a lightsaber ! It’s been amazing and I’m not stopping there! I have an ever-increasing list of drivers still to photograph.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed meeting and getting to know all the drivers. They’ve all been great company, good fun, highly entertaining, extremely generous with their time and have shown great support for the project. They are all delighted about the creation of this unique catalogue and were excited to hear that the photographs would be exhibited at such a major motorsport venue. See what some of them have to say.
It’s not only the drivers who have been very helpful and supportive. The ongoing support and assistance from the BRDC, MSUK and the Duke of Richmond has been invaluable. The Duke, with his knowledge and passion for motorsport, has written the exhibition foreword and been exceptionally generous in facilitating the Goodwood Estate as a location throughout the project.
After two some what, challenging but exciting years, the GBRD exhibition at The Silverstone Interactive Museum closed it's doors on 17th October 2021. Until the next GBRD exhibition - watch this space - please take a look around the site and join me on instagram and twitter (@gbrdphotos) I would love to see your comments.
I am delighted that GBRD is supporting Sir Jackie Stewart's Race Against Dementia charity by donating 10% of all print sales.
